About

Getting to know Jessica

I started Evolve Counseling and Wellness to help people process their feelings and emotions, discover their strengths, and make the changes that help them evolve and move forward.

My path as a therapist began in school counseling with middle and high school students. Over time, my focus shifted to parents and adults, and I continued that work in a community agency setting.

In adult outpatient care, I completed specialized training in postpartum depression and counseled pregnant and new moms through a postpartum depression hotline. I also became a certified Intimate Partner Violence Advocate (IPVA) with A Partnership for Change, an organization focused on domestic violence advocacy and counseling.

Much of my experience is with adjustment concerns, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, trauma, domestic violence, relationship issues and infidelity, and personality disorders, including borderline personality disorder. I have also supported clients living with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and dissociative identity disorder.

As I grew as a counselor, I found I also wanted to help other counselors. I enjoy teaching and consulting, so I completed the CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor professional development training through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In session, I draw on several theoretical perspectives, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, and solution-focused, cognitive developmental, psychosocial, and humanistic therapies.
